Gabriel Foret was a student of the great composer Camille Saint-Saëns during his studies at the school attached to the school of church music, which was the basis for their closeness later.
Faure composed in almost all musical genres popular in his time. His masterpiece is considered to be the "Requiem" (op. 48, 1887-1890), written for soloists, choir and orchestra, which had three author's editions.
The lyricism and intimacy of Fauré's Requiem was unusual for this spiritual genre, especially in the original, orchestral version (1888), which was extremely chamber in composition and sound.

Imaginary Folklore։ The Concert in Memory of Mikhail Alperin

On May 8, at 19:30, the Komitas Chamber Music Hall will host a concert entitled "Imaginary Folklore" dedicated to the memory of the Soviet and Norwegian jazz pianist and composer Mikhail Alperin.

The musical work of the world-famous pianist and composer Mikhail Alperin (1956-2018) in its collage imagery and ability to connect the incompatible is comparable only to the work of Sergei Parajanov.

This is especially evident in the concept of "imaginary folklore", where Alperin sought to blend traditional folk motifs with innovative jazz elements, creating a unique genre that transcended cultural and musical boundaries.
Alperin's legacy continues to inspire musicians and composers who seek to explore the uncharted territories of sound and imagination.

Lineup:
Evelina Petrova-Alperin: accordion, vocals | Norway
Simone Weissenfels: piano | Germany
Arto Tuncboyacian: multi-instrumentalist | Armenia
Artem Manukyan: cello | Armenia
Rezo Kiknadze: saxophone | Georgia
Guram Machavariani: guitar | Georgia
